Alex got a job!

Alex (my husband, if you're new here ;)) graduated last summer. He kept his part-time job he'd had through college, and he started freelancing for the Blanton Museum. He's pretty awesome. Unfortunately, the economy totally sucks, and anyone who graduated in the last two years (like both of us) got the short end of the stick. [It's why I got a job teaching preschool - a story for another time ;)] Since then it's mainly been

But on Friday, we got the great news!

Alex got an official, full-time job! It's not his dream job, but it's with people he has a lot in common with, including one of our good friends :) I'm sure he's thinking

And that makes me happy :-) Now I just have to give my portfolio a makeover, and get my career back on track! Until then...

Thursday Threads #9

In honor of Earth Day, I did a very special Thursday Threads! First of all, I wore my green dress, my blue butterfly necklace, and my Simple shoes (with white knee highs). Then I made my 'drawing' completely out of leftover paper scraps from my classroom. Yay recycling! (I also included my Klean Kanteen in the picture ^_^) I hope you like it!

Look what I got!

Last week I received this lovely little package from Christine of MiniMakMakings:

It's an adorable handmade card (you should check out her "Card of the Month") and a soap sample! I was so happy to see that I got a card!! She makes adorable ones, as you can see. I didn't get a chance to photograph the soap in its cute wrappings, because I was too excited to use it ^_^ It smells great, and is really soft :) Thank you, Christine!

Then Monday I got this awesome package from Kate at Scientific Culture:

I won her giveaway last week, and was soooo stoked to get these!!! I'm just trying to decide which bag(s) I want to put the adorable weather pins on. (You may recall how much I LOVE rainy days ^_^ er, when they aren't ruining my market ;)) Love, love, love that I have pins to celebrate my favorite weather :D And this too-cute robot is marking my spot in my book. Thank you, Kate!!!!!

I'm so lucky to have 'met' such lovely people. I am already thinking about my next giveaway, so I can send people things - hopefully making them happy as I am right now :-)

You Amaze Me, Legos

I loved legos as a kid. And I love legos now. When we get a house, we may have to dedicate a portion to lego building. My legos were just regular ol' bricks, with a couple yellow men, windows, and trees. Now there are sooo many kinds and sets! They've got my favorite super heroes, famous architecture, and even robots you can build yourself. Then there are lego artists, who are truly amazing.
