Sew YOU! Sneak Peek #2

Ready for another sneak peek for Craft Academy's fall semester?

Hmm...what have we here? Seems like sewing with structure....perhaps reversible.....hmmmm....:)

You know what I love about Craft Academy? We offer video tutorials. Video tutorials provide a level of detail that's nearly impossible in written/photographic tutorials. You can see every single step taken in a project in detail. That means you have the whole process and techniques. (Not to mention you get to see us ;)) And you'll have access to the videos for a year, which means you can re-watch them as often as you need.

I hope you can join us for our fall semester. Registration opens next week!

Just stopping in...

...to say hi!

This is a busy week! Last night I did my first Craft Academy live video chat. There were some technical difficulties at first, but I had a lot of fun! I was really glad some people made it in :) [By the way, the 4th of July Party Packet is on sale! Only $10 for lots of fun stuff :D]

Today's list:
  1. Bid for a small freelance project *nervous*
  2. Prepare for Craft Academy video tutorials *organized*
  3. Interview for graphic design position at a local magazine *anxious*
  4. Record with Renée *fun*
  5. Make salsa for 4th of July parties *yum*
  6. Couch to 5K run *needed*
  7. Etsy Austin Stitch 'n' Bitch! *excited*
  8. Pack! *prepared*
The hubby and I are driving to visit my parents tomorrow in Fort Worth :) We're planning to stop in Waco (Texas Ranger Museum) and hopefully Dublin (mmm Dublin Dr. Pepper!!) on the way. Then Saturday we'll drive from their house to my sister's in Houston (she's having a party Saturday). And Sunday we'll come home to go to my in-laws' party (and maybe a couple others). *whew* It's gonna be a busy week!!

What are you up to?

Busy Saturday, Take 6

Today is another busy Saturday! I woke up refreshed and still excited after the Etsy Craft Party last night :) So I immediately got to work. I started off making some sunglasses and iPhone/iPod cases. [I have a few ideas for screenprinting, so I'm trying out some sewing projects to decide what to screenprint :)] I had already cut the fabric for them - gray felt matched with several fun prints - and was ready to sew. Whew, was sewing all that felt tricky! It was mainly problematic because they were small cases and they were lined nicely (meaning all the seams are hidden between the fabrics). But I think they turned out ok:
Hm...I have a lot of sunglasses...well, only one pair wasn't pictured. Hee :D But now they won't get scratched up! Yay! After I finished those up, Alex and I ran errands...it took quite a while. We even went by Central Market and got lots of organic goodness :d AND he bought me these pretties:
Gotta love a husband who'll buy you flowers ;) When we got home I made fruit salad! Yum yum
We're having some friends over later, so it'll be a good snack :D I'm hoping I can go for my run before they get here...We started the Couch to 5K program (with the help of the awesome c25k app). I've only done it twice, but I really like it so far! It'll be so awesome if I can keep it up and actually run a 5K by the end of the summer!!

In other news, Craft Academy starts Tuesday!!! I can't believe it. If you haven't signed up yet, you really should. We're going to be making our favorite crafts all summer long! Plus live chats, giveaways (if I can bear to part with the cuteness, that is!), and special little bonuses here and there ;) I'm just super excited :D:D:D

What are you up to?
Have a happy Saturday!

Wedding Card

I had the best idea this morning. Really. Here's how it happened:
A month ago I helped a friend pick out fabric for her wedding favors (covers for blueberry jam!). She cut too many, so she gifted me a big stack of beautiful squares :D
This morning I was using the fabric for a Craft Academy project...
[sneak peek!]
when I thought - OH! I can make a gift tag with these!!!!! Anyway, I found it exciting ;D I also got to use small leftovers of interfacing and cotton fabric. So now their wedding gift will have a gift tag that matches their colors and wedding favors! I think she'll appreciate it ;)
PS: I can't believe Craft Academy starts in just over a week!!! Have you signed up yet? It's going to be awesoooome :D

Summer Lovin'

We'll have us a BLAST!
Why am I so excited about Craft Academy's Summer Lovin? Renée and I got together and created 7 weeks of everything we would want in a summer craft class. It'll be the best because:
  1. It's full of video tutorials, which means you'll see every step! This means a lot to me, because sometimes I've gotten lost with written descriptions. No step can be left out when you see it all!
  2. Renee and I will host live chats each week. Questions, comments, GIVEAWAYS - it'll all happen in the chats. That way any questions about the projects will be answered AND we can get to know one another :)
  3. There'll be personalized feedback for each project. When I take a class, I want someone to really look at my work. Therefore, we'll really look at yours!
  4. We chose our favorite projects! Our three categories are travel, the beach, and picnics - the best summer activities! I'll be teaching you how to make personalized, handmade products to make your summer extra special! We'll be sewing, painting, and embroidering. Super cute projects for any skill level :D
I can't wait to get started!!!

Make this summer a crafty one! Earn your wings with Craft Academy :)
(You have until midnight to get the class for only $50!)

Busy Saturday, Take 5

I'm so happy it's the weekend!
And it's going to be a productive one :D

This morning is taking care of the dogs (we're dog-sitting for my honeymooning sister) and blogging. Have you checked the Birds of a Feather blog lately? Today I did a post - The Colors of New Orleans - that I'm really proud of :D You should go check it out ;)

After this, I'm going to bike [yay for bike rides!] over to meet Renee to talk about Craft Academy :D:D:D I'm sooo excited! You can click on the icon in the sidebar to sign up for the newsletter. Registration will open soon, and classes start next month!!! It's gonna be good.

Then it'll be back home. This is the first Saturday in months that the hubby and I can spend at home together. ^_^ It'll be an afternoon full of laundry, cleaning, and projects, but at least we'll be with each other! Aside from chores, my main goals for today are finishing up some new headbands for the shop and working on my website! The design is done, I just need to implement it.

And tonight I'm babysitting and then going to a housewarming party :-) This is seriously an awesome day. What do you have planned?
