I love this dress. I chose this angle, though it's less flattering, so you can see the exposed zipper :) It actually makes my waist look really skinny - yay! Plus it has pockets (you know how much I love pockets). The front has really cute ruffles, which you can see a bit on the side. It's totally cute to dress up or down!

Etsy Finds: Fall 2010
These are what I want for the fall. Warm, cozy, classy...I want them all.
I would buy headphones just for this head phones hat by escaodesign:
I would wear these yellow oak leaf earrings by hitree all fall long:
And I would carry this Colorblocked bag by CamilleStar with me everywhere:
I obviously need this purple mug cozy by natalya1905:
And this yo yo headband by cocorosecouture is simply fall-tastic:
I'd feel fancy in these lovely lacey wrist warmers by hypericumfragile:
Isn't this ruffle front fleece jacket by cotylee just to die for?!
I want to cozy up in these knit slipper boots by HollyDoll:
And this fall wouldn't be complete without this gorgeous cape with tie by margerydaw0:
Writing this while listening to the sound of the rain falling seems wildly appropriate. I'm so excited for fall to come! And maybe some extra moolah so I can buy these beauties on Etsy! ;)

Etsy Finds: Constellations
Long-time readers may know that I'm obsessed with the sky. My favorite thing about camping is getting away from city lights so I can see the stars! So why has it taken me this long to do an Etsy Finds post about stars? Beats me :) But here we go!
I'll start things off with this gorgeous silkscreen print by christinetillman:
And I love this "Urban Constellation" photograph by Zyada:
I'd wear these funky Ursa Major earrings by chingchinjewellery:
Maybe I'd pair them with this awesome constellation t-shirt by nonfictiontees:
And add in this constellation army tag necklace by Markhed:
I'm in love with this mini Aurora Borealis oil painting by HonourYourPet:
I want to decorate my house with these paper German stars by KeriLouNewYork:
And I can't forget these adorable Starry Owl prints from boygirlparty:
I'm thinking I may have to add a star-themed line to my shop. Hmm....=)

Thursday Threads #18
This is my lounging around the house outfit! It's what I'm wearing today, since I've just been job searching and working on small projects here :) I looked at some images to come up with the pose this week, because I want to branch out more. This is how I sit a lot...even in chairs! I have a hard time sitting normally >_<
Vintage Aloe Vera shirt - parents' attic (I think from a job my mom had in the 70s)
Black yoga shorts - Gap
Hair: in a messy bun so it's out of my way!
Accessories: Just my wedding ring :)

New Orleans
Friday night in New Orleans, my sister's bachelorette party (she's asked me not to post any photos, so here's a street sign, and my lovely husband):
Sight-seeing, including the French Quarter (where we stayed), Jackson Square, and beignets from Cafe du Monde (yum):
But of course the main event was the wedding :)
The above pictures are: My beautiful sister; Alex's cuff-links (a gift from our best friends); the jazz band playing for the bride and groom (amazing); my brother (he does exist!); the happy couple about to cut the cake; and a photo I managed to snag of the hubby and me!
It was a whirlwind mini-vacation! I was very glad to spend time with my family this weekend and to see such a rich city :)

Spring Shopping
For my birthday, my mother-in-law took me shopping. (Have I mentioned how awesome it is to get along with one's in-laws?!) It was a lot of fun! I'm really not a big shopper (partly because I'm so frugal no doubt), so it was exciting to actually get some clothes for spring! This is really the first year I've felt very 'fashionable' at all, and I'm trying to completely embrace it - in my own way, of course.
First up, shoes. I needed some more casual flats (I can't wear open-toed shoes to work) that would look good with skirts or shorts. I was looking for black, but I found these:
They are Simple Shoes - super comfy, totally cute, and eco-friendly! Made from recycled and organic materials. The shoe glue is water instead of petroleum based. Even the box is made from recycled paper. (Can you tell I'm enthralled?)
Next up, spring basics and Banana Republic:
Timeless tanks in a couple of colors, and a gorgeous spring scarf (actually in yellow).
And finally a couple outfits to go from New York & Company:
A dress that actually makes me look skinny. I never thought I'd see the day. AMAZING. And this romper I mainly tried on as a joke, but mom-in-law saw and said, "We're getting that one." Haha - it actually looks pretty good! Especially paired with my new yellow scarf ;)
It must have been frustrating to take me shopping when I was younger. I wouldn't wear anything too girly, too low-cut (meaning below the collarbone :P), anything that even looked like it might be uncomfortable...my poor mother. Now I'm much more open to new styles, and trying things that I would never have thought would look good. I'm learning! Half the things I got Saturday are items I tried on a whim, never guessing they'd actually work!
My challenge: Next time you go shopping, try on at least 3 things you'd never have dared to before. Let me know how it works out!
