maybe I've fallen for you...
Alex and I think that will be our first dance song. It's stuck in my head right now, and I love it. Perhaps it will lull me to sleep...
This isn't the best photo of the drawing I made tonight, so perhaps I will take a new one later. But it still gives an idea of my drawing! I was inspired by the Design*Sponge post about paper artists, particularly Julene Harrison (gorgeous!). I'm hoping that I'll have time tomorrow to redraw this nicer (since this was all done really quickly and without erasing!) and make my first paper cutting! Oh, I dream it will be as beautiful as I imagine it...(though I'm sure it'll take a lot of practice before I can make one perfect!). You've got to love midnight inspiration.
...Yes, there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you...

Camp Drawings
As you may know, my current day job is teaching swim lessons at a preschool/daycare/summer camp (ages 3-12). Right now the pool is broken, so I've been subbing in different areas of the school. Today I was with a group of campers mostly ages 5-6. I got to teach art today! Who doesn't love to spend a couple hours coloring with the kiddos? :)
I led a project where everyone grabbed two colored pencils and started a drawing. After a couple minutes, we all passed our papers to the left and continued on one another's drawings. We kept passing around the circle until everyone got their own drawings back (thankfully we wrote our names down first - several didn't recognize theirs!). What a fun project day! We only had a couple hiccups, but it went pretty smoothly. [Most of] the kids loved their drawings! Here are mine:
The last one is my favorite :) I want to get together a group of friends and do the same thing....I wonder if they'd be interested.

Baby Shower Invitation
Finished the baby shower invitations today! I blurred out all the info, but you can still see the kyoooot monkey and penguin! Melissa asked for it to be very childlike and cute, so I did my best! I'm in love with my animals :D I feel that I don't usually draw monkeys very well, so I worked really hard to make this one cute. I had a lot of fun with these! I'm glad I switched the monkey from brown to orange - it looks a lot better. And it's thanks to Melissa's suggestion to make the penguin a gray-blue :) Now I just have to finish my wedding invitations...

Graffiti Bag
Finished the second bag! Thought I'd go ahead and upload a couple pics, because I love it sooo much ^_^ I designed a bag like this a long time ago, but never got around to making it. It fits a sketchbook perfectly, with room to spare for my billfold, then has pockets for phone, keys, pens, etc. And it has the amazing graffiti fabric, with an A on front :D
Things to change on the next one:
- Make the strap a little wider.
- Maybe add depth for ease of packing/unpacking.
- Add lining to make it a little stronger.
- Maybe add a closure for the flap...nothing too hard to get open.
But those are all little things that aren't too important - just to make it more personalized to my lifestyle. I love the bag as it is!

Sewing day
Hello there!
Yesterday I went over to Becky's for a sewing day with a few girls. It was splendid! Despite having to lug my monster of a sewing machine (I keep meaning to upload a photo), it was a day well spent. Using my Sew What! Bags book I've mentioned before, I sewed a cute little zippered wristlet that I adore. [Once I finish this post, I'll upload it to my etsy shop!] Everyone seemed to get a lot of work done, which is always joyful. I also started on another bag that I plan to finish this afternoon. I'm using this great graffiti fabric, as I call it, that I found in the $1/yard rack at Wal-Mart. You'll see photos once I'm done ;)
Lately I've also been working on wedding planning...*sigh* It's such a task. But I won't be discouraged! I started designing our invitations yesterday, and need to get those finished this week (since they have to go out VERY soon!). Then there are the baby shower invites I'm making for my best friend (whose sister-in-law is pregnant). Those should also be finished up this week. Lots of projects right now! I have a busy week ahead....
In the meantime, please enjoy my zippered wristlet photos! (Comments are always welcome ;))

Tammy's Bag: Finished
Alrighty, the bag is finished! It's much like my Batman bag, but is a slightly different shape, and with different pockets. I love using the contrasting fabric for the inside of the pockets! I think I did a really great job on this bag, I must say. And I'm getting faster, too! It only took me...maybe 6 hours? to complete. That doesn't include shopping for materials, of course, but that was really fun as well. Take a look - I hope you enjoy!
(Can you tell I had fun with the photoshoot again? :D)
(PS: In the background are the bookshelves Alex and I designed and built. Aren't they beautiful?)
And I just uploaded it to my etsy shop! Can't wait to finish some more projects!
